UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital tightening security after someone intentionally disrupted the oxygen supply
AURORA, Colo. — A person gained access to an outdoor oxygen storage area at Colorado’s largest hospital and intentionally disrupted the hospital’s primary oxygen supply, prompting staff to move patients and the entire facility to backup sources, UCHealth said.
The disruption happened on Sept. 3 at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora. Oxygen pressure decreases gradually when the flow is interrupted, the hospital said. Low-flow and low-pressure alarms warned staff of the problem before patients lost oxygen.
