Greetings all!

Our District 2 annual “Pick a Bone with AHCA” Meeting was a huge success. See the pictures below. A very big “THANK YOU” to Mike Young with Harvard Jolly Architecture and Emily Carrier with TLC Engineering as they did a great job in coordinating this event. A big thank you as well to our FHEA sponsors Harvard Jolly Architecture, TLC Engineering and Gilbane Building Company.

The food was great! Representative Charles Van Zant opened the meeting with an invocation. Thanks were given to the sponsors for both FHEA and SMPS. Rep. Van Zant addressed the group with the story behind his efforts in re-instating the AHCA 80% inspections. It was a great story and we all appreciated hearing it. John Willingham, FHEA State President presented Rep.Van Zant with a plaque indicating FHEA’s appreciation for his dedication to the betterment of Healthcare in Florida. John also awarded Kimberly Hansen of Elkins Constructors the FHEA District 2 2009 Supporting Member of the Year Award. Skip Gregory, Bureau Chief of AHCA Office of Plans and Construction provided an overview of the upcoming changes in the codes and regulations affecting Healthcare Facilities. After adjournment, a round of afternoon golf was enjoyed by many members. Our next District 2 meeting will be at the Annual Meeting in Orlando Oct 27th.
