AHCA adjusts annual fire life safety survey schedule
This year AHCA is implementing a new schedule for reviewing fire life safety compliance in Florida accredited hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. If your facility is currently accredited by JCAHO, HFAP, DNV, etc., the review period will change to biennial (one survey every two years).
Some facilities surveyed in 2015 may have a survey in 2016 thus beginning their biennial process. Other facilities surveyed in 2015 may not see an AHCA fire life safety survey until 2017 and then continue the biennial process in 2019, etc. The intent is to evenly spread the survey process across a two year period, while still assuring the Florida medical facilities are safe.
Keep in mind, regardless of the schedule, AHCA maintains the ability to conduct a survey at any time. Remaining continually prepared is the best way to provide protection for your patients and staff. Florida Healthcare Engineering Association appreciates the relationship and communication enjoyed with AHCA.
